Visualization of Non-Austrian population

 

The population in Austria has been increasing since 2002, which is most of immigrant are from their neighboring countries and the aim of our project is to create a several visualization technique from a huge data about the population in Austria,  how many citizen are living in Austria and how many immigrant are living in Austria. And also we would like to create a visualization of population according to their place of origin. Our technique visualization is quit simple, so one can easily understand the information that we want to explore without reading a huge dataset which may be complicated to understand.

 

Dataset

 

The dataset that we're going to use are .csv und .json Files, in the dataset itself contain the information of Austrian population, Non-Austrian Population and also it divided by each states in Austria. It contain the country names and the sum of people.

 

Proposal solution

 

These are some of our visualization technique idea for this project:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

User can see if website open map of austria such as up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If user move mouse on map see change color of paths.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

User can choose which state information they are willing to know. In our visualization we provide 8 tools divided by state name, as a pic up is shown the information of the foreigner’s population for state Niederösterreich. The information’s are shown as a bar chart. 

 

User target

 

The first target of our project visualization is for the market business owner, as like we said before in our project description, that today there are a lot of people from the neighboring contries are living in Austria, so this information can be used for a statistik to import a product according to their place of origin. The business owner can use our visualization of population in Austria to provide such as a foodstuffs according to the place of origin of the immigrant. The second one is for the restaurant business owner, so the business owner can use this visualization as refferences before opening restaurant. For example according to the data that we get, here we can see the most people, so the business owner can easily see which kind of restaurant or such as street food stalls.

 

Task

 

The user want to know the information of the population in Austria according to their need. They might be to know how many people are living in Austria, which country has the highest population in Austria and which state in Austria has the highest foreigners.

 

 

Scenario

 

This visualization will help and to simplify the user to get the information they want. In our visualizazion technique, we will provide some tools or button so that user can sort the information of pupulation in Austria according to their place of origin countries. And also we will provide a button for the information of the population in each state in Austria, and it will be seen separately so user can easily see more better.

 

Implementation details

 

For this project we've decided to use java-script programming language, because we have a little bit experiences with this programming language and it also allow us to easy to implement the results that we want. And we are also gonna use the Javascript library like D3.js for manipulating documents based on data.

Expertise

 

Actually we have no experiences with the visualization tools, this gonna be our first project for the visualization.
